It's the sixth of September already, somehow. Summer finally feels as though it's at an end, with the temperature outside right now a chilly +9C°, and the overcast sky a slate pewter with a biting wind. The first week back at work.

So yeah, I started up back at work for the new school year. All the usual stuff to deal with. Updates to government policies to read. Leadership imploring all staff to do better. WHO – An author you would love to have a ‘one to one’ with?
The author who comes to mind is Corey Doctorow. I mostly like his science fiction and I resonate with his essays on modern technology. My main fear is that I would not be able to hold my own, and he would soon be bored. The only well-known author I have spoken to was Timothy Findley, and I do believe he was bored though too polite to say so. I once exchanged emails with Andy Weir, who somehow seemed like just a regular guy.

Here’s our stats breakdown for 2026.
According to the signup sheet we had 173 participants this year, although at least one of the Blaugust mentors clocked a handful of folks who did not officially sign up, which means that number is closer to 179.
Out of that first number, 161 bloggers made at least one post during August (that we could find!)

I'm sorting out my books, part one hundred and sixty-five.
Thanks to Folkmoss for mentioning Readest. I really like it! Highlighting anything takes at least a dozen attempts but other than that: great. It looks good and it syncs. That's all I need.
It's not syncing to my Kindle though. Last year I jailbroke my Kindle, but not very well. It's doing stuff but not all the stuff it should be doing. In theory I should be able to sync everything.

Here it is the 31st post for Blaugust 2026.
I feel like I could have done more but I was doing a lot with school and work. I like the idea of Blaugust and my participate next year. I hope to be done with school so that would make it a bit easier.
I did read some posts I enjoyed but I find I am terrible of documenting them for mention here. Possibly I am moving too fast.
Already the next semester has started and I have two classes for the next weeks. Wish me luck!

It's already 4 weeks since the end of this year's edition of Nowe Horyzonty film festival in Wrocław, and I'm finally ready to post some recap of what I saw.
The most natural thing would be to end the post with a "would I go again?" section, but I kept wearing my festival pass on my work lanyard until this week1. I think that speaks for itself. It's no secret that I, like many others, have been on a kick to reduce screen time lately. I don't discriminate about the nature of the screen, either. Computer, tablet, phone, eReader, TV - these are all devices that I'm looking to spend less time with.
Tablet is the easiest - years back, I decided I didn't really want one, and gave mine away to someone who actually needed it. No tablet, no problem. TV is also not a problem. I watch very little TV (here I am counting streaming services as well)…
