It's the sixth of September already, somehow. Summer finally feels as though it's at an end, with the temperature outside right now a chilly +9C°, and the overcast sky a slate pewter with a biting wind. This is my absolute favourite kind of weather—no worries of sunburn and heatstroke. Of course, this is merely temporary, as we're going to reach a sunny high of +23C° on Wednesday. For a little while I have been using YouTube way more, and even paid for the Lite subscription model, simply to test it out.

At the very beginning of August, I made a hasty and last-minute decision to participate in Blaugust 2026 [1], an indieweb community blogging event that encourages writers to develop their writing habits by posting more frequently. I want to share a dumb little side note on specifically these posts. One, I often write them throughout the week, as I do things, so I don’t forget. Sometimes they probably feel a bit disjointed for that, but I try to keep a flow. Second, when I write in Joplin, everything gets a date. Here’s our stats breakdown for 2026.
According to the signup sheet we had 173 participants this year, although at least one of the Blaugust mentors clocked a handful of folks who did not officially sign up, which means that number is closer to 179.
Out of that first number, 161 bloggers made at least one post during August (that we could find!)
Of the bloggers who signed up 96 people indicated that this was their first time participating in Blaugust!!!

Bubbles states that it is part of the IndieWeb and that it is a missing piece in the "circle" of Mastodon, Kagi Search, RSS, Hacker News, Lobsters, IndieWeb, and so on.
The IndieWeb (Independent Internet) also includes blogs written in languages other than English, but Bubbles does not accept such blogs. So how can you claim to be a blog directory for the IndieWeb?

A few days ago Ruben wrote a quick post about finding a FIGlet in the Internet Archive's HTML code. What's a FIGlet? "FIGlet is a program for making large letters out of ordinary text". ASCII-art, in other words. Curiously, I can't find this in the Internet Archive's sources, I don't know where he saw it... August came in at 2 hours and 24 minutes.
That number is wrong and I want to say so before anybody gets attached to it.
Here's what the tracker gave me. 1 hour in WoW. 56 minutes in Guild Wars 2. And then 28 minutes filed under something, somewhere, doing who knows what. I have no idea. It's a rounding error with a mystery attached.
The real number is more like 10 to 15 hours, and almost all of the missing time happened in Vancouver.
