I’ve drafted this replay post about a dozen times because there are so many things to say about Morrowind that it is difficult to know where to start. The context of it’s development for Bethesda as a company is important, the direction it steered the Elder Scrolls series away from and into, and the unique take on world building, and storytelling. But how about we start at the bottom and work our way up? Let’s start with the vibes, man.
Seyda Neen.
Morrowind is a small roleplaying game that feel…

There's a desire we all share as humans – the desire for answers. We're conscious, we live, we search for meaning, and that meaning often comes down to specific answers to specific questions: what is going on, and why do things happen? A lot of our time and effort on this planet goes into seeking those answers. And throughout history, there has been an enormous and recurring appeal to find an Answer Machine – a device that reduces the effort required to get there.
This innate desire goes some wa…

High Violet
图1 《High Violet》專輯封面
专辑信息
专辑名称: High Violet
歌手: The National

This is an analysis of the Furbish of the first-generation Furby toys. I haven’t kept up with the language in the ensuing four generations (!) of toys.
Introduction
This web page is devoted to documenting and analyzing the Furbish language. Furbish and the Furby were invented by Dave Hampton, founder of Sounds Amazing (a games company) and a former Mattel programmer. Inspired by the success of Tamagotchis and Giga Pets, he decided to create a new kind of virtual pet, a completely interactive ani…

On queer religion, religion after trafficking, my goals in religious studies, complex relationships with family members, and that unshakeable spark of belief.
I grew up feeling touched by God in ways that, according to others, I did not deserve. I believed in God before I knew what God was. I grew up with a mother who described herself as "spiritual but not religious" and a father that came from a conservative Christian family but who had somehow agreed to keep his faith out of raising me, so I…

I talked yesterday briefly about how I love clouds, adore them really. There’s something dreamlike and peaceful, well, at the best of times.
There’s also another element I was born to: water. I’m a Pisces and natural born water baby. Sometimes I think I’m part mermaid I love the water that much. But, just like changeable clouds, I have a healthy respect for water, especially the sea.
Like cloud and water in general, the sea is a living entity. Alive in a way all elemental forces are. Not sentien…

Inspired by Tamarian, here’s a modest proposal for a mythometaphorical conlang: Intermythic English. Intermythic English is English with the addition of the 150 words below (newly updated!).
Sample Sentences
Yama can sarasvati Babel. “You can speak Intermythic English.”
The Minerva of Babel has Castor and Pollux. “The author of Intermythic English has twins.”
Yama and Nar can ahura mazda new Sarasvatis for Babel. “You and I can create new words for Intermythic English.”

In The Average Fourth Grader Is a Better Poet Than You (and Me Too), Hannah writes:
When I was a child I believed that one day I might be allowed to cross into an alternate dimension by walking through a quilt hanging on my living room wall.
Reading this reminded me of the things I believed as a child...

I created Kordron to show off the capabilities of LangMaker for Windows, my shareware conlang-construction software. Yes, people used to send me cash and checks in the mail for software they had downloaded from my website.
Kordron is one of the many dialects of Orcish spoken in the Shadow Mountains. Unlike most of Orcish, Kordron has been documented in some detail, due to the findings of Magnold the Cleric. While plundering an abandoned orc warren, Magnold discovered two scrolls, which comprised…
