Three of these are mine with setup and other stuff
Was supposed to be catching up, but ended up missing a couple of days instead, downside of being back home compared to travels – too much stuff that affects my plans out of my control. Even though most of my travels I’m not solo (sadly, mostly financial reasons), but it’s still just one person usually and it’s easier to discuss plans, besides I’m the one planning stuff mostly since travels are also my stream content.
That was one of the reasons…

I’ve drafted this replay post about a dozen times because there are so many things to say about Morrowind that it is difficult to know where to start. The context of it’s development for Bethesda as a company is important, the direction it steered the Elder Scrolls series away from and into, and the unique take on world building, and storytelling. But how about we start at the bottom and work our way up? Let’s start with the vibes, man.
Seyda Neen.
Morrowind is a small roleplaying game that feel…

This past weekend was my birthday. My partner and I celebrated by camping at Cape Lookout on the Oregon coast. We had dinner at Willy’s in Oceanside. Run by a husband and wife team they serve Japanese comfort food in a beach town nestled on a cliffside.
The Oregon coast is an unbelievably special place to me. It feels otherworldly. It is one of my most expected pleasures since moving to the state. Wide, often empty beaches, shrouds of mists crawling over groves of pine. The chance at glimpses of…

People describe the empty nest like a threshold you cross once. The last kid loads the last box, the taillights disappear down the street, and you walk back into a house that has gone suddenly, permanently quiet. Then, the story goes, you stand in the doorway of a room that isn’t a bedroom anymore and you feel the whole thing land at once. Grief on one side, freedom on the other, a clean line between the before and the after.
That’s the version everybody hands you. It rests on two quiet assumpti…

I guess you do not technically die in Stardew Valley… but the fact that combat and loss are part of the game remains an aspect I did not expect. But more on that in a bit.
Stardew Valley Splash Screen
Having passed through spring of year two we were on to summer and a new set of crops. That was an opportunity for my daughter to expand our growing area, adding in a couple more quality sprinklers and then once again walling it off to keep the farm animals out.
The new summer crop layout
There were…

Well, 9:30pm on the water to be exact but it started getting dark and even with my torch I didn’t want to risk going down a hole. I didn’t get any night time pictures, but I did get an okay sunset.
This was a little earlier, facing east, where I saw the clouds over the mountains that I thought might give way to some rain later in the night. Very dramatic and forboding.
As things got darker, some lights caught my eye on the eastern shore. With my naked eye I couldn’t see what they were for, but m…

I read Coyote's Bubbles is a New Way of Recreating Old Problems which expresses so well why I am wary of this kind of thing. Not Bubbles specifically but the general mood. Which is that I try to stay away from anything that feels like a popularity contest.
Pretty early on I removed upvotes from my blog. Because I don't need to know that. But I didn't remove 'make discoverable'. My rationale, if there can be said to be one, is that the most recent discovery feed - the only one I look at - is just…

Don't panic, not a long post. I visit my university city every couple of months because I like the scene (whimsy) and I visited again today to catch up with a friend who's moving away for a Masters in a couple months. I won't air out our gossip 'cause it's none ya1 but the topic of location came up, which is something I've written about before.
I'm Thai in my blood but I never felt a strong tether to my home country, I grew up in a home town that's almost suffocating in how I will always be unde…

Behold, it is I, the guy who continues to play new shiny videogames instead of sticking to my ongoing playthroughs.
I’ve written before about my ongoing games, which games I would start over instead of resuming, why I abandoned them, and the like.
This post will be different. Not a list of games, not excuses as to why I stopped playing them. My plan is to share with you exactly where I stopped playing and trying to remember what I was doing and where I was going! So, an excercise on my own memor…

I will say this; Planet Crafter moves along at a brisk pace. It is also good about laying out the next objective for you and giving you a way to see how fast you are progressing.
Certainly A Planet Crafter
Unlike Valheim, which I will use for comparison as it represents such a staple of the survival crafter genre, with rather broad objective of slaying the current biome boss, Planet Crafter objectives are much more incremental.
Also, you’re not actually fighting mobs or bosses. Not yet at least,…

Charm
When I saw today's #RPGaDay2026 prompt was charm, I laughed, scratched my head, and sat here thinking about it. You see, I'm not a very charming person in real life. I'm a very forgettable person with the personality of a rock. This prompt gave me some thinking to do from a game developer's perspective.
The longer I've worked on building my game, the more I've realized that charm and charisma aren't exactly the same thing, and that's an important distinction to make during game development…

House House, makers of the delightful Untitled Goose Game and Panic, makers[1] of the fascinating Playdate, have teamed up again to release Big Walk.
It's a game where you "hang out and get lost with close friends in a big world." And the trailer makes it look cozy as heck.
For most of my gaming life I have been a solo gamer, playing mostly various flavors of (J)RPGs, (Action-)Adventures, and Platformers. Notable exceptions are Rock Band(s)[2], Mario Kart(s)[3], Super Smash Bros.(s)[4], and Fina…

I was at FFXIV Fanfest a week ago, and no diary from Germany can be complete without a mention of German trains.
When I was picking our hotel, I thought it was well connected to the Fanfest location. And it is, but not when they decide to do a little weekend track renovation. And then when we tried to get to the keynote on day 1, an entire train station got evacuated due to a fire alarm, and we had to scramble for alternative routes.
After Berlin, I spent a few hours in Leipzig, and then left fo…

On the second day of my holiday I decided on another evening walk down the trail that led away from the beach. The day had been very fun, and very busy and I was mentally exhausted, in dire need of a break, and once again a lonely walk brought me right back into myself.
The trail started very easy and obvious, though I saw many overgrown and reclaimed branching paths that fireshadowed what this trail was soon to turn into. I thought I could avoid such inconvenience by sticking to this one path,…

On the last day of GenCon, my friend asked me how I’d rate my first-ever gaming con experience from one to ten, and I mentally scored each event I attended before giving an average score overall. I ended up somewhere between three and four overall, which kind of felt like a huge waste of money. There are a lot of missteps I took like taking risks on events based on their descriptions which ended up not being accurate (ex: a “LARP-lite” experience ended up just being a series of childish carnival…

It’s almost been a week since Everquest Legends officially released. I have a bad habit of waiting to long to start writing about a game and it feels like I’m about on that cusp for this one. I’ve been playing almost everyday, making slow but steady progress.
I come to EQL without the rose tinted glasses of nostalgia. In 1999, I was in second grade and I’m pretty sure I wasn’t even aloud on the internet. The most I used the family computer for at the time was playing with MS paint and pretending…

Me and my SFF PC that travelled a lot in past 3 years
A bit late, but a very important post – introducing myself. I actually lost the “About me” page in the Backupocalypse that I mentioned before, so there’s no official introduction of me outside of a little paragraph in my Twitch channel description I guess. Will return that page with “official” introduction at some point, but today is a bit free format one, because I feel like it’s not going to be the first time introducing myself during annua…

As in the actor, yes. It almost seems like a dream to me. Now here I am, waiting to watch the new Spider-Man movie. I can’t believe I have followed the guy’s different films for a decade now.
Way back in 2018, I was going to smaller Comic Con events, I somehow got lucky and managed to travel for it twice. First I went to Glendale, AZ. Then Seattle, WA later in the year. I had a goal in mind to meet an another MCU actor that shall not be named. Due to various reasons, it never happened. I felt de…

Memories Taken by the Heat
I've just come back from my morning dog walk. On the streets here, you can smell the nearby forests. The sea is only a couple of kilometers away. Clouds towered over our heads.
The cool breeze and the scent of water vapor in the air brought back memories from years ago.
After my divorce, I moved to a small flat in the downtown of Budapest. It was 2020, and I managed to buy a neat apartment that had previously been used for Airbnb. It became unprofitable for the owner a…

I’ve been muddling through ways to stay interesting – to myself and friends – in the age of AI. Part of the answer, I have come to understand, is the construction of Thickets. Dreaming up such a thing without a way to traverse it kept the idea incomplete. One nagging thought was that it was important to get properly lost – as opposed to trivially lost. That feeling where you had a good sense of where you were, but a question you asked or a connection you made has left you in unfamiliar territory…

My only significant motorcycle road trip of 2026 was taken on May 9th through May 14th. The trip was planned as an opportunity to visit familly in and around Chilliwack and to familiarize myself with longer distance riding for the year.
As luck would have it, the ride did not go quite as planned. I did get a good visit with several members of my family which was great. But some things happened which, along with changes in my mental state and general health, led me to cancel other, longer journey…
