  1. Things I've Found In The Back Of A Drawer - #1 In An Irregular Series

We have a lot of stuff. And I mean a lot. We live in a rather large house with a lot of storage space and over the years, particularly since the children all moved out, we've filled most of it up. So, now we're vaguely thinking about moving to somewhere smaller and more manageable for our twilight years, we're going to have to do something about that. And since it's going to be a long job, even though it's very unlikely we'll be going anywhere for a couple of years, I've already started on my ha…

Mists of Pandaria got laughed at before anyone had played a minute of it. Kung fu pandas. A whole expansion about kung fu pandas, plus a pet-battle system a lot of people immediately wrote off as WoW doing Pokémon. I remember the reaction to the announcement, and it was not kind. It also turned out to be one of my favorite expansions in the whole run, and I've never really backed off that. The joke fell apart the second you actually got to Pandaria. The place was gorgeous. I’m using Blaugust as an excuse to push myself to write more regularly about my film podcasting, so far so good. Got one post out over each of the last four days, and this one will make five. I still have to catch up on two days, but given I’m finding a groove and there’s no travel on deck—the good money is on me nailing it. This is not my first blog rodeo, people, I’m a veteran. Although I didn't do either of those things yesterday, I did see a movie a couple days before and eat at ye' old Spaghetti Factory three weeks ago, so . . . it still counts! We saw Spider-M…

TBC pulled me in, but Wrath was the first expansion I got to walk into on day one, already max level, already ready, no old-world slog standing between me and the new stuff. ✒️ I’ve been using a Bullet Journal for 2 months now. I’m starting to get a feel for what works for me, and I realized I don’t miss most of the digital tools I was using before. I still use a digital calendar, email and Standard Notes, but I’ve been very satisfied having my to-dos in analog form. 📘 I started reading the last book of The Expanse series, “Leviathan Falls” by James S.A. Corey. I love to have these beloved series to get back to, and I might be unconsciously taking longer to read it…

Me and my SFF PC that travelled a lot in past 3 years A bit late, but a very important post – introducing myself. I actually lost the “About me” page in the Backupocalypse that I mentioned before, so there’s no official introduction of me outside of a little paragraph in my Twitch channel description I guess. Will return that page with “official” introduction at some point, but today is a bit free format one, because I feel like it’s not going to be the first time introducing myself during annua…

🎞 watched “The Odyssey” at the Metreon in 70mm IMAX on opening weekend, and mostly enjoyed it. No spoilers in this post.My pal Rohit (@rohit.khare.org) had bought tickets last year, had a spare, and invited me along last minute. After an early dinner at Cha Cha Cha (@chachachasf.com) we made our way to the Metreon. There was a line to get in. I have never before seen a line merely to get into the IMAX theater. We only missed maybe 1-2 movie trailers. Our seats were in the front row, only a few sea…

I literally have scores of blog posts about my film podcasting adventures that I’ve yet to publish. For nearly two years now, I have been co-hosting the Family Pictures Podcast, and we’re closing fast on 80 episodes. This spring I started a second podcast, Couch to 4K, with Mike Caulfield. It’s like watching and talking about movies is my new day job, and I love it. The only issue is I’m not feeding nearly enough of that back into the bavablog, and that pains me to no end. Somehow I feel that if…

For the past month I've been going through and putting the Riverside services through its paces. Mostly because I had used them in the past for other things, I wanted to see how their current lineup had grown to fit within my workflow. There were a few roadblocks that had turned the whole experience into something I couldn't get past. In my previous podcast episode, I went over the experiences I had encountered that at least for me were some groundbreaking bugs I couldn't simply ignore. Most not…

Way back in 2018, I was going to smaller Comic Con events, I somehow got lucky and managed to travel for it twice. First I went to Glendale, AZ. Then Seattle, WA later in the year. I had a goal in mind to meet an another MCU actor that shall not be named. Due to various reasons, it never happened. I felt de…

Star Trek Axanar is back in the news, twelve years on from the last controversy. For those unfamiliar with the original debacle, in 2014 Prelude to Axanar was released via YouTube. This Star Trek “fan-film” presented as a faux 21-minute, Starfleet documentary was very well received by fans and was intended by its makers as a proof of concept for a feature-length film. Set in the year 2245, during the final year of the Four Years War against the Klingons, Prelude to Axanar pushed the boundaries o…

I just haven’t been able to bring myself to go since. There hasn’t been anything that I have wanted to buy a ticket for. I’m very aware of the releases of The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. And I’m hesitant about seeing both. I was not the target audience for Oppenheimer, and the MCU has been inconsistent for…

By the start of August, I am absolutely desperate for autumn to show up. I’m one of those people who have a very small window of comfortable temperatures, and although I cope okay when it gets a lot colder, I do not thrive when it’s warmer. I know there’s a lot of people that love summer, but I will never be one of them. In 2024, I stumbled over this horror movie challenge from SpookySarahSays. The Charmera is a tiny keychain camera that I bring with me when I use a small handbag. I love my tiny camera.
