I am on the search for another White Whale in Warframe. I want to build a Burston Prime. I need four parts to build the Burston Prime. I have three of them, the blueprint, the stock, and the receiver, but am missing the barrel to make the gun. You know how I can get that barrel? From cracking one (1) specific Relic, and it isn’t even guaranteed to drop from said Relic.
I could trade for it, I could figure out how to work Warframe Market to buy the part for the Platinum I have built up. I don’t n…

I have been using a Huawei smart watch for a few years now. I haven’t minded it but it hasn’t properly integrated with any of my other tech for a while. When I got the watch new, I was still an Android user and the watch worked fine. But, for better or worse, I came back to iPhone and the watch became less useful.
I was inspired by Matt Birch’s micro apps and thought about developing an app for my Huawei watch but it’s not possible and Apple doesn’t allow the watch to access anything useful from…

I recently repaired the Micro USB socket of an old Raspberry Pi; the one through which the Pi receives it's power. It was a bit of a fiddly soldering job because the connections for the USB port are tiny. Because of this, I briefly considered just sending the power straight into the 5V and GND pins on the Pi's pin header. I've seen projects where a Raspberry Pi was powered through it's GPIO pins, and even ones where the Pi itself wasn't connected to a power supply at all and instead to a powered…

A bit of background in case you’re wondering IndiWeb Carnival.
The month’s (August 2026) topic is “purpose” and is hosted by Chris Shaw at uncountable thoughts.
Purpose
A single word that evokes many different interpretations.
It can apply to yourself, an organisation, club, community or even humanity itself. Is it fixed for all time, or does it change and adapt to the surrounding environment?
Is it important for others to know the purpose, or can it just be shared among the people with a direct…

This expansion takes place in Draugardh located in the North East of Mordor, beyond the Plateau of Gorgoroth. It includes the new zones of Heledhris, Parth Rhavas and Nan Ogol. The rough guideline for what not to discuss in polite company are (well were) two things: Politics and Religion. This is to avoid arguments and rabbit hole to hell conversations.
It seems there now is a third on this list, AI. I’ve seen a good gathering utterly devolve after AI start coming up. Much of the conversation isn’t well informed (or even partially informed), but there is a lot to know and a lot of different sides / dimensions. Apple is one of the greatest companies of all time, and built a reputation for obsessing over the smallest details. This careless, aggressive and oddly personal lawsuit sadly doesn’t live up to that reputation.

Rule number one when vibe coding is not to take yourself or your code too seriously. If you do, it’s not vibe coding; it’s software development, or vibe engineering.
When it comes to licensing your slop code, we should first discuss whether it can even be licensed. But that is a complicated question, so let’s not worry about it.
To embrace this uncertainty about licensing, or whether the project works at all, we should not pick a boring licence like MIT or GPL, as it is unclear whether those can…

One of the things I love most in life, strangely enough, is fleeting and ephemeral: clouds.
I love them, am fascinated by them, and can stare at them for hours on end. They’re ever changing and remind me of how life is ever changing. Nothing ever stays the same, people come and go, we move through time slowly, as if a cloud, always forming and reforming. Sometime benign, sometimes volatile, sometimes thunderous.

I had a migraine this morning that really threw me for a loop. Then I spent the afternoon and evening dealing with a different kind of headache: getting my phone number transferred to a new(ish) phone.
