I be a Beatle … Well, here we are at the end of August, with a whole month of blogging under my belt, not one day missed. Which is, in and of itself, a miracle. It’s been a busy month, one full of special anniversaries, a few emergencies, and a lot of walks out and about to take photos for Stray Pixels, my photo blog. It’s also been a month of highs and los (due to those anniversaries and emergencies) which when all is said and done, is life in a nutshell. I’m here, I’m writing and I’ve had another year of life. One I may not have had if it hadn’t been for some sharp eyed ER doctor spotting something was terribly wrong with me last year. This month’s emergencies were all centred around my mother in law, bless her tiny cotton socks. She is 80 plus and does everything slowly, but can get very animated and a little ultra focused on small things all too easily these days. Such as hearing a weird dripping noise in the bathroom. One that caused us all to lose two different weekends hunting the Hefflalump (the fictional elephant-like creature in the Winnie the Pooh stories) and climbing in and out the bathroom, and under the house where it was discovered there was, in fact, a problem with a water intact pipe from the city. One that has now cause major problems for both my in-laws and, the city. Who pays for what, and when can it be done and … I feel like litigation my end the nightmare. But that’s a story for another day. Only me and the mother in law actually escaped having to crawl all over the house to find the problem. It seems I’m a calming figure and good at distracting the mother in law from being overly anxious. She’s not exactly been teaching me how to swear, but I do now know a few more choice swear words. And to dripping water I say, tabernac! Swearing aside, I’ve been out and about a lot this month between taking pictures, visiting the Nouveau France celebrations, various craft fairs, and wandering around the historic centre of Quebec, I’ve been visiting a lot of ice cream parlours and trying out hot chocolate at various establishments, zeroing in on the top three places to find the best drinks and the best ice cream. Well, somebody’s got to do it, right? So it might as well be me. All in all it’s been a fun but somewhat busy month, one in which I finally got to read the latest book in one of my fav fantasy series, A Trade in Blood by Robert Jackson Bennett. An absolutely brilliant trilogy, so far, and I say so far as I hope the series extends to another couple of books, or more. Yes, it’s that good. The world-building, the characters, and the situations they find themselves in are so well written and described. And what does today bring? A quiet day at home, reflecting, writing, reading and, maybe, looking at staring an online Digital Garden although, in my case, maybe it would be best to call it a Library? A place to collect together everything I’ve ever written. Or, at best, everything I still have a copy of. Would that then make it a repository? Ugh, no, that sounds too much like suppository and we all know what those do. Maybe best to stick to Library. What say you good people? What have you all been up to this #Blaugust month? 𖡼.𖤣𖥧𖡼.𖤣𖥧
