Giving the living room a fall makeover. This is why I don't want to do any cleaning/home stuff on Friday. I just don't have the motivation! Skipping the gym today since I had said that I'll be going once a week anyway while I adjust to the new work schedule. Otherwise, Fridays would have been a good day. (I'm now worried that working out on Sunday will make me sore before my shift on Monday.) Anyway, while I love decorating, I loathe getting the box of decorations from the basement. I usually ask Daniel to do it, but now I see it as a chance to train my arms. When I decorate for the seasons/holidays, I usually just focus on the living room. I might extend it to the hallway depending on whether I plan on having a gathering or if I have extra materials. I've been collecting fall decor for a few years now and don't plan on buying anything new this year. Tasks before decorating Bring up box from basement 16:30–16:44 Before. I always start with the mantelpiece because it ties everything together. The box of fall decorations mostly consists of Halloween stuff. I don't want to go all out yet though, so I just picked out the most autumnal things and a few Halloween pieces to start. After. I've decided to keep the books up because they're kind of on theme. I like to keep the zodiac animal up until October. That's when I start from zero and build a Halloween spread. Around two years ago, I bought a bunch of fall decorations from Ali Express. I've used the fake pumpkins but never the acorns or leaves because I'm usually late to decorating and felt too lazy to use them. I'm early for once! The leaves are made of fabric so they're durable. I have a large fall wreath that I forgot to bring up, so I'm going to take the box back to the basement since I have to go down there anyway. Brought out the Halloween plushies early and the scaredy cat Pusheen. Next week, I'd love to frame the black cat bandana my sister bought me so I can add more cats to this wall. Normally, we leave the box containing the rest of the decor in the apartment until November, when I take everything down. But I want to live a more organized life, so I took the extra steps to take the box down. In the past, we'd just put the box in the bedroom where that giant mess was, but now it's gone. I've add this dark grey tray from Ikea for at least 8 years. I don't love it, but it's my Halloween/fall tray. I usually add a bunch of Halloween items here, but since I put them away again, I just brought out what I had lying around. This time, I added two zines that feel appropriate for the season.
